Bamboo Crowd: Who, What and Why

We are a recruitment consultancy that connects talent (“Candidates”) with businesses (“Clients”). Our core business activity is the introduction of candidates to clients for the purpose of permanent, interim or freelance/temporary recruitment.

We collect Candidate and Client data to help us deliver a best-in-class service. Below lists the types of people/entities we collect data from:

  • Candidates – prospective and placed candidates for permanent, temporary or interim opportunities. We may collect candidate information, and sensitive personal data, from our candidates and potential candidates. We use this information in order to help us better understand our users better, provide a better service and, to help us make more accurate connections for recruitment services and job opportunities.
  • Client and Business contact information – prospective and current (live) client contact details. We may collect business contact information, and billing information for invoicing, from our clients and our potential clients. We use this information in order to provide products, services, or information about our products and services.
  • Employees – prospective, current and temporary workers at Bamboo Crowd. If you apply for a Bamboo Crowd job posting, or become an employee at Bamboo Crowd, we may collect information necessary to process your application or to further the employment relationship.
  • Suppliers – supplier contacts to help us deliver our services

Information we collect about you

Any data we collect is used for recruitment purposes only.

We collect information about you through applications you make through our website (www.bamboocrowd.co.uk / www.bamboocrowd.nyc) and through other online job boards. Plus, we collect information about you through corresponding with us on the phone, e-mail, Skype, Slack or otherwise, and when you register with us in-person. We also collect information shared by you when you subscribe to our mailing list, events and other ad hoc surveys and promotions, or participation in discussion boards or other social media channels we use. When you sign up for one of our mailing lists we may collect your email address or postal address; when you sign up for one our events, or attend an event organised by Bamboo Crowd (also including any event that Bamboo Crowd is involved with, through sponsorship or other) we may collect attendee information. We may use this data to contact you about future events, or other related services that Bamboo Crowd offers. You have the right to opt out at any point.

We also obtain information about you from other sources such as LinkedIn, websites, job boards, online CV libraries, business cards, and referrals and recommendations.

If we do hold your data we will send you this privacy notice explaining what data we are holding, where we obtained it from, and what it might be used for.

We will use information supplied by you (including, without limitation, sensitive personal data) for recruitment purposes only. Upon receipt of your consent, this involves us, amongst other things, processing and storing information on a secure database where your information will be ‘searchable’ internally at Bamboo Crowd Limited and Bamboo Crowd Inc. (our US incorporation); this is to ensure we consider information shared (candidate data) for job and recruitment opportunities. We only share information supplied by you with prospective employers and clients with your consent. We use third parties to help us process, store and secure your information as part of our recruitment process.

Where we store personal data

Any data we collect for recruitment purposes is stored within our internal community (“Database”). Our community is accessible by our “Group”, Bamboo Crowd Limited in the EEA and Bamboo Crowd Inc. in the US. As a recruitment business, we require a community to ensure we can support our candidate’s career goals, and to properly serve our clients’.

Consent and Your rights

We will not store or hold any data about you without your consent. We request consent in meetings, via email, online processes or otherwise.

At any time, you have the right to ask us not to process or hold your personal data. Added to this, you can ask us to change, amend or update any information we hold about you, and you can request the transfer of your data to another party / contact with Bamboo Crowd.

You can ask us to remove and delete any records we hold in one of two ways: contact our data officer at: privacyofficer@bamboocrowd.com, or if you are a Candidate within our community, you can login directly and makes changes to your profile or remove it*

From time to time, our website or other online channels may contain links to other partners, websites or advertisers for events or promotions we are running. If you follow a link to any of the aforementioned, please note that they will have their own privacy policies and terms of conditions – Bamboo Crowd does not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies or terms.

The Data Protection Act 1998 and the GDPR give you the right to access information held about you. We encourage you to contact us to ensure your data is accurate, and through Thrive Circles, you will be able to make changes yourself.
