As we settle into a new year, many of us set new goals to improve habits and productivity. A favorite new year’s resolution for many is optimizing the morning ritual. We hope to train our bodies to get up early feeling energized and ready for the day. For some, this will take a LOT of work, but for people like Meghan Luce, it’s already second nature.

“I have a lot of energy in the morning,” she shares when asked how she takes her coffee. “I'm actually bigger on an afternoon cup than I am on a morning cup. By 3 o'clock, I’ll usually need a boost, so that's when I have my little cup of green tea and something sweet to go with it.”

Meghan has brought her coveted morning energy to the team at Giant Machines, a company that helps businesses and entrepreneurs optimize their digital products. We sat down to chat with Meg about her exciting new role with the growing company.

Full Speed Ahead

Meg was immediately interested in the role at Giant Machines because of her love for systems design. As she learned more about what they do, she could tell the position would be a great fit for her. When asked to describe what skills the position has let her explore so far, she responded with passion.

“I'm the one who helps companies and entrepreneurs make their dreams for the future a reality. When it comes to the new products they want to try, the new business models they want to explore, I help them do so in a way that’s safe and risk-averse so that they can develop more.”

“I'm already on a client project. I'm working with a smaller start-up, which I love working with, to develop a new idea they have. So it's a lot around validation. It's a lot around identifying user needs and some key UX that has to be involved in future product development. This is a dream that these two co-founders have had, and I get to help them make it a reality, which is super, super fun.”

The innovation practice is growing at Giant Machines. Everything that we're doing is recorded so that we can create a go-to methodology and playbook to help more clients do more innovative design strategy projects.

An exciting turning point in many people’s careers is that moment when the onboarding shifts from skill development into a simple exchange of information. It’s after you have years of experience under your belt and you are well equipped to enter a new position with your own ideas, work style, and project management abilities. Meg was ready to own her position at Giant Machines, and they honored her skill set.

“They threw me right into it,” she recalled. “My time here has been short, but we just did our first client workshop, and I took the lead on that and it went great. So I'm very proud of that.

I'm also helping them with training and discovering how we can spread this way of working to anyone in the organization who's excited about it. I'm happy that they trust me enough to pull me into that, in terms of spreading the knowledge.”

An Opportunity to Build Something Great

At Giant Machines, trust was quickly established, and Meg was able to enter her new position at full speed. She is flexing her skill set by leading client projects and contributing to future training needs. That trust in her passion, experience, and ability to succeed provides us with key indicators of strong company culture.

“Bamboo Crowd definitely helped me make this decision. I was in final rounds with interviews with three different companies, all through Bamboo Crowd, and we were just getting towards the end and making decisions. One of the things that Chelsea and Alex reiterated to me is how much they love working with Giant Machines. They love the people there.

The people aspect, and the fact that this is an amazing organization that’s growing fast had been a confirmation from the Bamboo Crowd team,” Meg continued.

So for me, the final decision was around people and finding the right team to work on. With Chelsea and Alex's emphasis, the decision to join Giant Machines became really easy.

Meg was able to find her dream team and is excited about the opportunity to contribute to the future of Giant Machines. It’s a place where she’ll also have room to grow and lead more as the company continues to expand. Finding a position that is such a good fit isn’t always easy, and Meg highlighted how helpful Bamboo Crowd was in her job search.

“Just the decrease in the workload of finding a new role is extremely helpful,” Meg shares. “They make things more simple, especially for the person applying to jobs. And it's not just about getting you placed in a spot as early as possible. They help you with those considerations like, ‘Is this a good fit for me or not?’ I’d use them as a sounding board and would ask, ‘What do I pick? Where do I go?’ And that was really helpful.”
